This final Bumble Bee was modified a bit. I shortened the bodice just a touch and made it a shirt instead of a dress because I didn’t have enough material to make a skirt. I also added a little apron! Kinley had been asking me (almost daily) for a “Strawberry Hortcake” dress. So, this was her Strawberry Shortcake inspired Bumble bee shirt with ruffled leggings.

Bumble Bee Delight Part 2
Day 2 of my Bumble Bee Dress by Sewing Mama RaeAnna
This one is so sweet because these are my husband’s old dress shirts! He wore these when he was working in civil engineering 13 years ago when my first child was born. I wish I had been a sewer then! Anyway, finally got him to purge his closet and thought maybe I could use them for something. This turned out to be the perfect project for them!
I actually left the sleeve cuffs in tact and the bottom of the shirt also. I left the natural curved hem. I also added a bib. It is actually buttoned on to the shirt but I liked the little flowers so I covered it.

Bumble Bee Delight by Sewing Mama RaeAnna
Bumblebee Delight
I had the most fun this week sewing some new creations. My friend RaeAnna over at
debuted her first pattern back in August. I finally got it a couple of weeks ago to add to my collection. I decided during my “down time” this winter I really wanted to start using some patterns I hadn’t tried using scraps and stash that I already have. This week I pulled out the Bumblebee and took it for a spin! I asked RaeAnna which version had been least used and she said View B with the sleeves! I kind of rushed this one so I need to get some better photo’s. The sun was setting and my phone wasn’t fast enough!!!
I absolutely loved this pattern! It was so easy to follow with such great instructions and detailed photo’s. (perfect for this busy momma!) I liked it so well, I have made two more modified versions this week! Check back tomorrow for another one!
